Minor Project: Basic T

After the briefing, the project I joined is Group 1: Basic-T because the idea of your everyday wear with the ability to protect yourself from dangers such as being bulletproof interests me.

Identifying Target Audience

"Martin Currie" is one of the personas I've created to help identify and sympathize with the target audience. According to our client, the shirt is simple and only available for males. After that, my group created a online questionnaire.

Collecting Primary Data
After that, we conduct interviews to help understand our target audience. I myself conducted total of three interviews. I don't talking to people, especially to strangers, but I must get out of my comfort zone if I want to contribute to my group.

Mr Chye (Nurse) I asked my mother, who was a nurse, for contacts with any of her male colleagues. This is the only guy that answered. The best thing I learned from him is that a nurse outfit tend to be uncomfortable to wear during long working hours.

Mr Hock (Woodcutting Teacher)
I believe this is one of the lecturer in Taylor's. I didn't contact him, one of my groupmates did. I covered for her as she got classes on the time of interview. One thing I learned from him is that wearing gloves and apron for woodcutting nullifies the need for a protective shirt.

Mr Kevin (Aircraft Engineer) This is my father. One thing I learned from him is that he has never gotten injured in his workplace before so he doesn't feel the need to buy a protective shirt.

In conclusion, there seems be a lack of need for our brand, at least from my side. Hopefully my groupmates can get better responses.

Brand Promotion: Posters (UNUSED)
My group leader created a schedule for the brand, it's all mumbo jumbo to me. But I'm one of the few who's responsible to create something to promote the brand, like posters and ads. I became in charge of making two posters for our anti-slash t-shirts.

I did a few sketches to explore the layout and images I need to find for the posters.

I spent a lot time finding the right image for the posters. Some images become blurry when I enlarge them so I have to find another one.

Unfortunately, these two posters shown above never seen the light of day because my groupmates outright rejected them in order to focus on creating a website, which makes me mad because I burnt the midnight oil for this.

Brand Promotion: Product Teaser 15 sec Ad
But I learned to move on (though still mad), and became in charge of creating a 15 second Product Teaser, featuring one of our shirts. The style must be gaming, as requested by our client. I chose to go with anti-slash.

I played and still playing a lot of games. So I know what type of games to look up. Further, I watched an ad from Uniqlo and realised that the way they present their shirt is similar to a game will present  perks of a character or gear.

I learned from my mistake. I posted my storyboard on Miro and consulted my lecturer. Once he approved it, I know I can continue on without the risk of the product being rejected again.

I studied motion graphics so I kinda know what I'm doing. But it takes time because I work slow and I procrastinate. Plus, I got other assignments to do.

Out of all the modules on this term, I spent a lot of time on this module because it's related to gaming which I know and like. It's to the point I'm burnt out and don't have much energy and time left to do other assignments. Do I regret it? Maybe.
