PROPOSAL
I tried to make the kangaroo as goofy as possibly by exaggerating the length of the his snout and giving it fish-like eyes with rectangular pupils. The kangaroo in the white astronaut suit is the very first coloured design. One groupmate commented that it "looks stupid but in a good way", so I know I'm on the right track. The idea of a kangaroo running around the map with its tongue out, with a wrench just wanting to fix stuff appeals to me, as well as my groupmates.
For consistency, I followed Caelan's design for the lobby for the hud background. I found it difficult to showcase multiple cosmetics in one image so I planned a frame by frame video, displaying the customization options.
After finishing each frame, I put in sounds effects for the short video in Premier Pro. My goal is to create the illusion that a player is interacting with the customization options. The video is then ready for final submission.
As written in our proposal, the imposter sabotaged and crashed the spaceship. So I designed the role reveal to show the crewmate stumbling out of the burning ship to the exit.
For the imposter, I tried to it horrifying by turning the pouch into a monster
and having spider parts. I created three alternate versions so that the
imposters know each other.

LECTURES
Week 2: Playful Experiences
- Can include negative emotions and experiences
- More diverse
- Express strong emotions
- Make the game stand out
- Create readable character archetypes
- Create immersion
- Accommodate screen size and power
- Determine Age Appeal
- Must Have - Priority!
- Good to Have - Adapted from other games
- Nice to Have - Not so important, but nice touch to the game
1) Setting & Influences
- Determine the visual pillars by looking at the central theme of the
game
2) Lightning & Post Processing
- Give believable depth to the environment design
- Post processing helps to adjust certain environment design
3) UI/UX Colour Palette
- Avoid distracting high contrast, but rather aim towards a comfortable
scheme
4) Game UI Design and Layout
- Should be consistent in how the player operates actions and interacts with
certain stuff
- Colours and space should be unified
5) Character Design
- Work with signature colours and size combination
- Character silhouette should be clearly identifiable at first glance
- Significance differences or unique attributes helps characters separate
from each other in a lineup
INSTRUCTIONS
In the multiverse of Among Us, the crewmates are all Australian kangaroos.
The impostor which is a spider has infiltrated the spaceship that the
kangaroos are and is hiding by using kangaroo costume/disguise. The
imposter(s) sabotage the spaceship, causing it to crash-land. All crewmates
are engineers and they need to fix a crashed spaceship to go back to
Australia.
CHARACTER DESIGN
After a group discussion, we agreed to each come up with our character designs
and vote for the best concept.
The left image shows a few silhouettes that I created, with various styles
based on the games we've selected on our style range. I also experimented with
different animals that can be found in Australia as at the time, we haven't
narrowed it down to kangaroo yet. The silly-looking style of Goose Goose Duck
was chosen. On the right, is the chosen suit design created by my groupmate,
Caelan.

Looking at Caelan's suit design, I pulled the kangaroo's pants up as
Australians do when the climate gets hot. Instead of the flag of Australia for
the shoulder patch, I'm going for a more subtle way so I created an insignia
of the country with a gear icon to support that these kangaroos are engineers.
After finalizing the kangaroo, I have to create the turnaround for him.
Hopefully, my groupmates can mimic my design and style when they apply the
character into their designs.
CUSTOMIZATION HUD
Customization is one of our must-haves and seeing as I created the character,
I volunteered to create the customization options and hud because if other
group members did it, their styles might clash.

After finishing each frame, I put in sounds effects for the short video in Premier Pro. My goal is to create the illusion that a player is interacting with the customization options. The video is then ready for final submission.
ROLE REVEAL
Before the day of presentation, I realised that our group does not have a role
reveal concept, which I think it's an important part of the game such as Among
Us. Players must know their own roles respectively.
REFERENCES
I managed to stumble across a Youtube thumbnail titled "The Horror of the
Bunker", which I find the layout to be interesting, especially for the
imposter.

Customization Hud Video: Customization Video
Week 3
Specific Feedback: Since majority of your presentation is about the chaoticness of Goose Goose Duck, perhaps figure out a way to transfer that chaoticness to your art direction strategy.
Week 5
Specific Feedback: Stylization range too vast.
Week 6
General Feedback: Consider your groupmates strengths and weakness. Rationalize each of your designs.
Week 7
Specific Feedback: Missing week timeline. Inconsistent design. Add more Australian elements.
Week 14
Specific Feedback: More usage of cardboard texture is expected, otherwise good job.
REFLECTION
Experience
I did a lot of digital drawing in this module, which is a lot of hard work. Not to so say that I hate it, it's time-consuming and sometimes I'm worried whether my group members would like it. Aside from that, I had fun in this module drawing away.
Observation
I notice that it's difficult to get all group members to be available in a meeting as everyone got their own thing to do. Can't blame them, but there is a lack of communication between in group. Although, we did created a group chat at least we know what's each of us are up to.
Findings
I found out that I tend to branch off the proposal a bit such as the crashed spaceship part. Perhaps I should've make the kangaroos look more injured or make a cutscene of a crashing spaceship. There was so many ideas but so little time.
