I was to find an actual diorama of the Death Star online, which helps me a lot in this project as a reference, minus the characters.

INSTRUCTIONS
Project 2: Themed-Based Modeling
This project requires us to create a diorama with a theme. Influenced by my previous project, I decided to create the hallway of Death Star where Obi Wan and Darth Vader dueled.
REFERENCE

I was to find an actual diorama of the Death Star online, which helps me a lot in this project as a reference, minus the characters.
MODELING
| Fig 1.2 Project 2 Progress, Week 10 (30.10.2023) |
- First of all, I modeled the front side. I made a hole in the cube and extruded out the side. I then added buttons at the side, following the reference.
- Next I made the lights for both left and right side.
- At the back, there's more panels and buttons. I planned to add a PNG at the end of the hallway to make it look endless.
- Based on my lecturer's suggestion, I cut out the right side of the wall.
- I coloured the diorama.
- The lightsaber and a robe is added to the scene.
- Finally, for the background, I added a black and white comic of the duel.
- Updated based on lecturer's feedback. Background removed for being distracting, reflection of the floor more blurry and a spotlight to shine on the lightsaber.
FINAL SUBMISSION
FEEDBACK
Week 10
Specific Feedback: Since both walls are the same, try cutting out one wall to make like a "L" shape
Week 11
Specific Feedback: Background too distracting. Lights should be more brighter. A light to bring out the lightsaber on the floor to become a focus.
REFLECTION
Experience
It's a trouble to figure out how to create certain shapes for my diorama. The door panels, for example, I spent a while attempting to merge carved out a triangle out of a flatten cube before realizing I could just extrude out the door.
Observation
I noticed that the lighting for the this project is quite nice.
Findings
I learned that by using the Boolean tool after after pressing "N", I was able to create multiple holes for the lights. Work smart, not hard I guess.
