INSTRUCTIONS

Exercise 1: Quantify & Visualize Data
For our first exercise, we were instructed to arrange objects and label them accordingly to help visualize the quantity and data. I didn't have objects like Legos or buttons, but I do have a certain amount of ballpoint pens.
Fig 1.1 Pens Arrangements

I began by arranging my pens in several different positions. I like the last one where I tried to arrange them into spaceships. I've sorted them by either retractable or not retractable and written the labels at the ends to create streams emitted from them.

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H
In this exercise, we have to combine a group of information into a visual poster that utilizes four of the L.A.T.C.H principles. Out of the three links given, I chose to go with Final Fantasy, since all the information is already given and I don't need to spend time to gather them.

Fig 1.3 Chocobo Information

I have a plan of creating visual poster of a map for these wild creatures called Chocobo.

Fig 1.3 Visual Poster Progress

I used Photoshop for this task so that I can easily crop the background of the Chocobo and the island out of the game map. I wanted to create like a treasure map to show where each Chocobo will appear. Firstly, I arranged these Chocobos based on their locations and pinpoint them, according to the information. I also list them in an alphabetical order. To help people to know whether these Chocobos are aggressive and/or part of a quest, I categorize them accordingly. Finally, I rearrange them in by level hierarchy from high to low.

REFLECTION

I'm quite surprised that we didn't start off with a digital exercise, not that it's bad. It's almost like doing a collage. I didn't know arranging my ballpoint pens to tell a story and display information can be both fun and challenging. For the L.A.T.C.H exercise, I found myself to be utilizing my Photoshop from last semester. I tried to apply my video game knowledge as I wanted the poster to seem like it belongs in Final Fantasy.
